I’ve been living here for about 10 years and I started working at the age of 14. Right now, I’m 19 years old. It hasn’t been that easy because finding a job here is not easy for youth but right now, I work at a Denny’s. I approximately make $40,000 a year but it’s not as easy to pay rent especially with my mom being sick. I had to take the responsibility to pay the rent myself. [We should] give affordable housing to everyone because I reached out to three other apartments and none of them have gotten back to me either because of my age or the money I make. There has to be something to help vulnerable people and minorities.
