The reason why immigrant rights and renters rights are connected is that folks around the world have the right to affordable housing whenever they come from their home countries or migrate somewhere else to work. Renters rights are important so people are sustained so that they have a safe environment for their families and their children. We have the right to fight for better living conditions. For immigrant rights, a lot of us are coming from different countries. For us coming us here, we demand protections from the government, including our home governments, so that our rights are not being violated. That’s why I’m here for International Workers’ Day to show my solidarity as a student to workers and to show that our struggles are connected.
